Once a month, we gather together in a space in West Philly that can fit up to 60 people to watch a movie and talk about it. We generally focus on recent dvd releases of foreign, independent, and documentary films. After watching the film together, we have a discussion which usually lasts about 50 minutes. It's been great to meet people from so many different backgrounds and see the value that diversity adds to our group and discussions. Javaflix is a free event.
Welcome! This group is a community of people dedicated to fellowship and the cross-pollination of ideas. We believe that each individual can grow by listening to the unique perspectives, ideas, and sentiments of others as well as through sharing our own unique experiences. While a big part of the group is fellowship, the primary goal is to bring people together to help them articulate their ideas, adequately express their ideals, and contextualize their goals on how to make the world a bette …

Great Books promotes reading, thinking, and the exchange of ideas through the “shared inquiry” method. SHARED INQUIRY Great Books uses a method called "shared inquiry", which is a discussion process that enables participants who have carefully read the same work to help each other explore and understand the work. The meetings generally go no later than 9pm. We are casual and enthusiastic; our members enjoy reading and collectively choosing and discussing books on a monthly basis. With the help of a group of close friends, I identified the need for grassroots education on issues of local food, and systems sustainability. Menu for the Future is the local resource for creating small, intimate discussions around what we eat, where our food comes from, food safety, food insecurity, creating edible schoolyards in our neighborhoods, and supporting or even become local food growers. We meet, we read, we think, we choose, we act. If you are interested in bridging the gap betwee …

Okay, so it may not be the best title. Forgive me, I'm semi-new to this site. I couldn't find a group in Bucks County I could enjoy. So i decided to start my own! I am hoping to meet others who would like to get together bi-weekly or monthly. If we did it bi-weekly... we could get together during the first week of the month, see a movie. And during the third week, we could all review a book, or discuss titles we have enjoyed. If we do it monthly, we could try to see a movie followed by dr …

Please post your suggestions for what book you would like to read. We'll pick the top three and at our first meeting we'll vote on which book we'll read and plan to meet the …
“I do not know the American gentleman, God forgive me for putting two such words together." -Charles Dickens What the young men of our generation need is an excuse to drink the way our grandfathers used to: frequently, dressed well, and over meaningful conversation. The purpose of this group is to start a group of gentlemen who are intelligent, driven, and appreciate meaningful discussion. That being said, we're not stuffy. Crass subjects, foul language, sarcasm and funny jokes made in poor tast …
